Angola is the second-largest producer of oil in sub-Saharan Africa and a major source of diamonds. Although not a member of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, the Angolan government has over the last decade increased disclosure of the revenues it draws from the extractive industries. Serious gaps remain however, and the speaker will evaluate the impacts of progress made and outstanding reform needs for improving governance and accountability in Angola.
