The Speed of Economic Transformation in Asia
Jesus Felipe, Adviser to the Chief Economist, Economics and Research Department, Asian Development Bank
While a number of Asia's economies have undergone a rapid transformation over the last four decades, in others the pace of economic transformation has been slow. In many, agriculture remains the largest employer, industrialization has hardly taken place, and workers continue to move from agriculture into low productivity services. The speaker will examine what this implies for the economic future of the region.
