Chair: Dr Robin Niblett, Director, Chatham House

Overview

HE Kgalema Motlanthe will discuss South Africa's strategies to evolve a common vision to overcome current internal challenges and to secure strong economic growth for the country and region. He will consider how the use of social dialogue could prove useful in improving labour relations and the labour market in a way that contributes to essential equitable and inclusive growth and builds key international relations.

He will also emphasize South Africa's continuing engagement both within its region and on the global stage, despite ongoing challenges that include a large young dependent population and the need to address growing economic and social discontent.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
