Overview

Six months after the elections that marked the first democratic transition between governments in Pakistan, there are few signs that the country is headed towards the pre-election promises of political stability and economic growth. The speakers will assess the political, economic and media landscape, including the debates around drone strikes in Pakistan as well as progress in tackling various types of militancy in the country and the media's place within the country's overall transition. They will also examine how the government and Pakistan's military are responding to changing regional political dynamics in India and Afghanistan.
