Overview

Mozambique is widely regarded as a post-conflict economic success story, sustaining impressive growth over the last two decades. Crucial to this success was the country’s debt write-off and the reorganization of budget and fiscal arrangements.

Luisa Diogo served the country as minister of finance and planning and as prime minister during this crucial period. This event will launch her autobiography A sopa da Madrugada – Das reformas à transformação económica e social em Moçambique 1994-2009, (Soup Before Sunrise: From Reform to the Social and Economic Transformation of Mozambique 1994–2009), a behind-the-scenes account of the Mozambican government in the 1990s and 2000s.
