Overview

This conference will explore how West African governments and regional organizations are coordinating to reach a more sustainable and effective reduction in maritime crime in the Gulf of Guinea. Participants will discuss institutional priorities, challenges to policy implementation and how international support can most effectively be targeted.

Drawing on key themes discussed at the G8++ Friends of the Gulf of Guinea Maritime Security Experts Group on the preceding day, the conference will focus on the role of international partners in supporting the capacity of Gulf of Guinea states to both combat maritime insecurity and to support the development of maritime resources.
