Combating Antimicrobial Resistance: Issues In Food And Agriculture
Over half of global use of antibiotics occurs in the agriculture and livestock sectors. In a big exporting country such as the United States, data suggest that over 80 per cent of antibiotics sold are used in food and agriculture, and over 90 per cent of these are used for non-therapeutic indications.
This event will gather a number of experts to discuss the relationship between the use of antibiotics in the food and agriculture sectors, and the key issues that need to be addressed in the upcoming Combating Antimicrobial Resistance roundtable.
This event is part of a project on the national and international response to the emergence of antimicrobial resistance. For more information, visit the Centre for Global Health Security.
Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
