Tokyo: A World Financial Centre in the Asia-Pacific?

17 January 2014 - 9:15am to 1:00pm

Chatham House, London

This roundtable event will focus on the potential role of Tokyo as a global mega-city and financial centre in the Asia-Pacific, drawing comparisons with London in Europe, and whether its position as a global financial centre is being challenged by other Asian cities, such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai. The event will also address the various financial instruments used by the Japanese government to further develop the country’s financial market, as well as the potential impact of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

This event is supported by the Japan External Trade Organization, Daiwa Capital Markets, Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, AstraZeneca, Hitachi and the Development Bank of Japan, and organized with the help of The Japan Society.
