Is America Retreating from the World Stage?
Xenia Dormandy, Project Director, US; Acting Dean, Academy for Leadership in International Affairs, Chatham House
Xenia Dormandy will discuss how Americans perceive the US’s role in the world, and where the divisions lie both within Washington DC and among the general public. She will assess the international and domestic issues that drive US foreign policy decisions, and explore how these are being managed by the White House. Finally, she will consider whether America is undergoing a long-term strategic change towards a less active role in promoting a liberal world order, and if so, how its allies should respond.
To enable as open a debate as possible this event will be held under the Chatham House Rule.
