Partners in Prosperity? UK-Angolan Relations for Trade and Economic Growth

22 January 2014 - 16:00 to 17:00

Committee Room 12, House of Commons

Lord Marland, Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy (2012-2014)
Chair: Lord Grocott, Chair, All-Party Parliamentary Group on Angola

In November 2013, the UK government announced ‘prosperity partnerships’ with five African countries, including Angola. The aim of these partnerships is to overcome obstacles to economic growth and progress, thereby enhancing trade and investment opportunities.

Lord Marland, who will step down from his role as trade envoy at the end of December 2013, will reflect on his experiences, including leading the UK’s biggest ever trade mission to Angola in October. Discussion will focus on opportunities and priority sectors for investment and partnerships, barriers to a successful prosperity agenda, and how these might be overcome in Angola.
