Chatham House, London

Russia and Eurasia Programme, Russia's Domestic Politics

Participants

Dmitry Zhuravlev, Director General, National Institute of Regional Problems, Russia

Overview

Changes to regional governance have been a significant feature of Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev's presidencies. Since Vladimir Putin's return to the presidency in 2012, the Kremlin has shifted the cost of several federal projects onto regional administrations, leading to an increase in regional debt. Dmitry Zhuravlev will discuss the relationship between the centre and the regions in Russia and possible future developments. He will offer introductory remarks for approximately 15 minutes, followed by an hour for questions and discussion.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only.
