Cameroon’s Influence in Emerging Africa: Priorities in a Globalized World

8 May 2014 - 10:30am to 11:30am

Chatham House, London

HE Philémon Yang, Prime Minister of the Republic of Cameroon
Chair: Anne McCormick, Corporate Relations Director, Diageo Africa

Cameroon is one of the most stable countries in West Africa, a region confronted by multiple security challenges both on land and at sea. The country has demonstrated steady economic growth in recent years, and it is important that Cameroon's population benefits from its natural resources and growth in the timber and oil industries. To ensure continued economic growth and stability, Cameroon is prioritizing large scale infrastructure investment in its ten-year economic plan.

His Excellency Philémon Yang, prime minister of Cameroon, will discuss recent developments, the process and challenges of modernization, and Cameroon’s international and regional priorities.
