Adjoa Anyimadu is a research associate for the Africa programme. Her work focuses on Africa’s maritime security and the politics of Kenya, Tanzania and the Horn of Africa. Her research expertise has been used by the International Taskforce on Piracy Ransom Payments, and she has appeared as an expert witness before the UK parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee and the House of Lords European Union Committee. She has conducted research on piracy in East and West Africa, and accompanied a NATO counter-piracy mission in the Indian Ocean in 2012.
