Gareth has led research on a range of economic and political issues affecting South Asia since 2004,and was also head of the Asia programme at Chatham House for six years.

Previously he has worked as an analyst at the Economist Intelligence Unit, focusing on South Asia, and before that was the South Asia analyst at Control Risks Group.
