Over a long and distinguished career in international affairs, Michael Williams stepped forward to tackle some of the most difficult conflict situations of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Following an illness, Michael passed away in April this year at the age of 67. To remember Michael’s important contributions to diplomacy, politics, broadcasting and policymaking, as well as the many personal bonds and friendships that he built throughout his life, Chatham House hosted a commemorative event where those who knew and worked with Michael offered their thoughts on his remarkable career.
