Despite widespread international attention and condemnation, sexual violence in armed conflict remains pervasive. At this event, the panel explore the role of international humanitarian law (IHL) in banning and criminalizing sexual violence in armed conflict, examining the IHL framework and its relationship to human rights law. They stress the importance of understanding the complex legal framework surrounding this issue, in order to respond effectively to the needs of victims of sexual violence.
