Mina Al-Oraibi is the Assistant Editor in Chief of Asharq Al-Awsat, the international daily pan-Arab newspaper. She was previously Bureau Chief in Washington DC from 2009 to November 2011. Her work has included the Geneva talks on Syria, Iraqi refugees, and American and European foreign policies towards the Middle East and North Africa, and recent high-profile interviews have included US President Barack Obama; the US Envoy for Anti-ISIS Coalition, John Allen; the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde; and the former Iraqi prime minister, Nouri Al-Maliki. She is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Middle East and the WEF named her a Young Global Leader in 2009. She was born in Sweden and raised in Iraq, Australia and Saudi Arabia before moving to the UK. She has a BA and an MA in History from University College London.
