Jeanette Vega

Summary

Dr Jeanette Vega has been the Director of FONASA, the Chilean national health fund, since 2014. She was previously Managing Director of Health at the Rockefeller Foundation. She has also served as Chile’s Vice Minister of Health (2008–10), leading the country’s 13-step agenda for equity in health, and as a Director at the World Health Organization in Geneva, where she led the Equity in Health agenda, looking at the social determinants of health and health systems. She started her career as a medical doctor in Chile, specializing in family medicine.
