Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi is a freelance journalist and Director’s Fellow of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab. He writes and tweets about the Arab world from his home in Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, and lectures internationally. During the Arab Spring protests, his comments on Twitter became a major news source, rivalling the major news networks. In 2014, Arabian Business placed him in its global list of the 100 Most Powerful Arabs under the Thinkers category. He is also the founder of the independent Barjeel Art Foundation, an initiative to build an accessible public art collection in the UAE.
