Recent violence in Syria, Ukraine, Israel and Palestine has highlighted the incredibly complex process of conflict resolution, and peace negotiations. In situations that elude straightforward responses how is an agreement forged, and when should the international community intervene?
Giandomenico Picco and Gabrielle Rifkind, in conversation with Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, will share their experiences of international peace-making through behind-the-scenes negotiation. They will argue that a new approach - one which recognizes geopolitical complexities but also focuses on the thought process of individuals- is now urgently needed to break these cycles of violence. They will stress the importance of understanding the mindset of the parties involved as the most important condition of conflict resolution.
