Chatham House

This is a transcript of a speech made by HE Governor Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Governor of Kwara State, at Chatham House on 9 May 2011.

In 2005 Governor Saraki invited a number of white farmers who had been evicted from land in Zimbabwe to Kwara State, Nigeria. At this event the governor gave an update on progress made and argued that he sees a number of advantages to people in his state, as well as to the farmers. He linked the achievements since made by the farmers to broader challenges of sub-national and national development.
