Chatham House


This is a summary of an event held on 15 July at Chatham House.

The meeting focused on political developments in Kyrgyzstan a year on from the violence of June 2010, and the challenges that face the country moving forward. The participants discussed the significance of the establishment of a parliamentary system, the first of its kind in Central Asia. They also considered the continuing challenges facing the country, including managing regional divisions between north and south and ensuring a smooth and peaceful presidential election campaign in October.
