This is a summary of a roundtable discussion with HE Mohamed Bazoum, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Niger, on 15 December 2011 at Chatham House.

The minister discussed the growing threats facing Niger in the forms of terrorism and crime, and the negative repercussions for the country of the recent conflict in Libya. The event marked the first time that a Foreign Minister of Niger has come to the UK since Niger’s independence in 1960.
