This is a transcript of an event held on 12 January 2012 at Chatham House.

A panel of experts discussed the drivers of Moscow's changing policy towards the West, and the outlook for relations beyond the presidential elections in March 2012. The event screened extracts from a BBC documentary series, Putin, Russia and the West, which charts the evolution of this relationship since Vladimir Putin first became President of Russia.

Speakers included: Norma Percy, Series Producer of Putin, Russia and the West; Dr Bobo Lo, Independent Scholar and Consultant; Sir Roderic Lyne, Council, Chatham House; and Paul Mitchell, Series Director of Putin, Russia and the West.
