Ukraine: Current affairs and analysis

Our work examines how Ukraine can be supported to end the Russian invasion and successfully rebuild its society, infrastructure, and economy.

The ongoing Russian invasion is destroying a country which was already struggling with complex and fluid internal dynamics as a result of ongoing issues with the system of old rules and vested interests.

There is a strong demand and pressure from society and a new generation of policymakers for new rules, and the international support being provided to Ukraine to defend itself against Russia means a new future is inevitable.

Ukraine has been a major focus for Chatham House research for many years, long before the current Russian invasion, with our Ukraine Forum providing a unique platform for insight on the country’s internal dynamics in key policy areas, as well as its international relations.
