Gender and Equality

Exploring issues such as gender equality and economic growth, women’s rights, violence against women and girls, and the role of women in peace and security.

Since 2013, the Chatham House Gender and Growth Initiative has been working closely with countries hosting the G20 to raise awareness around gender-related issues, and ensure that gender equality in the context of growth is on the G20’s agenda.

Chatham House’s work also tackles areas such as women in the military, how gender is increasingly important for the development of Africa, and solutions for issuing women-specific advice during health emergencies.

An internal working group has been established to oversee and monitor Chatham House’s commitment to raising gender awareness across all of its activities.
