Democracy and political participation

Research examines different models of governance across the world, as well as how the political process differs in countries with varied political traditions.

The work considers different levels of social and economic development, and how contrasting histories of engagement with other states can impact on internal political processes.

Chatham House research also examines the value of democracy in a changing world and its role in supporting the international order, which involves analyzing a wide range of political and social issues, and taking into account that both political attitudes and public opinion within a society can be hugely diverse.
