About the authors
Duncan Brack is an independent environmental policy analyst, an associate fellow of Chatham House and an associate of Green Alliance. From 2010 to 2012, he was special adviser at the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change; before that he worked for Chatham House, and from 1998 to 2003 was head of its Sustainable Development Programme. His areas of expertise include international forest policy, forest governance and the timber trade, agriculture, supply chains and deforestation, climate policy and bioenergy.
Richard King is a senior research fellow in the Energy, Environment and Resources Programme at Chatham House. His work focuses on various issues related to the sustainability of, and climate risks to, food, agriculture, land use and soft commodity resource trade. He has a particular interest in the emergent sustainability issues arising from growing global competition for land-based ecosystem services and resources. Prior to joining Chatham House, Richard was deputy head of research at Oxfam GB.
