Geopolitical Leadership Intensive

Selection criteria

The Geopolitical Leadership Intensive welcomes applicants who demonstrate a strong interest in global affairs, a commitment to leadership in their sector, and a desire to broaden their strategic perspective through engagement with Chatham House experts and peers.

Early career participants: The ideal participant will have 2-7 years of work experience in government, non-profit, media, business or academia, with a strong interest in international affairs and potential to lead change in their respective field.

Mid-career participants: The ideal participant will have 8-15 years of work experience in government, non-profit, media, business or academia with strong ties to international affairs and proven track record of leading in their respective field.

Selection will also take into account diversity of experience, sector and geography to ensure a rich and balanced cohort.
 

Programme details

Building on the success of the Academy’s flagship Leadership Masterclass Programme, this two-day professional development short course will take place at Chatham House, in the heart of London. The programme will run from 9:00-5:30 on Tuesday, 16 June and Wednesday, 17 June, with an evening reception on the final day.

Participants will engage with world-leading experts to explore the forces reshaping global leadership and international cooperation, with topics including:

Global context

• The shifting balance of power and the evolving global order
• The search for effective international cooperation in a fragmented world
• Key regional developments in 2026, particularly the Middle East and Latin America
• Global competition, economic security and the energy transition

Leadership and strategy

• Leading with purpose in a fragmented world
• Lessons from crisis and resilient leadership
• Power, influence and networks

Policy and impact

• Influencing policymaking in the UK and internationally
• Communicating for influence and policy impact  
• Scenario planning and decision-making under uncertainty

To ensure participants engage with peers at a similar stage of their professional journey, the programme will be delivered in two tailored cohorts: early-career and mid-career, each limited to a small, carefully selected group.

Programme fees

• Early career participants: £2,500 + VAT  
• Mid-career participants: £3,500 + VAT

Programme fees include the following:

• All programme sessions and materials
• Breakfast, lunch and refreshments on both days
• Formal evening reception on the last day of the programme
• Full Chatham House individual membership for one year, granting access to exclusive events and research
• Connection to the Chatham House global network of leaders and practitioners

A group discount of 10 percent is available for bookings of two or more participants from the same organisation.
