About the Author
Patrick Schröder is a senior research fellow in the Energy, Environment and Resources Programme at Chatham House, specializing in the global transition to an inclusive circular economy; his research focuses on collaborative opportunities between key countries, closing the investment gap, and building an evidence base for trade in the circular economy.
Prior to joining Chatham House, he was research fellow at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, where he conducted research and taught on the circular economy in developing country contexts and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Based in Beijing in 2008–15, he worked extensively on EU development cooperation programmes, including SWITCH-Asia, the EU–China Environmental Governance Programme, and the EU–China Civil Society Dialogue. He also has worked for Germany’s GIZ/CIM on German–Chinese climate change cooperation programmes.
Patrick holds a BA in Chinese from the University of Westminster; and received his MA in international relations and PhD in environmental studies from Victoria University of Wellington.
He is co-editor of The Circular Economy and the Global South: Sustainable Lifestyles and Green Industrial Development (Routledge, 2019).
