Oli Brown is an associate fellow in the Energy, Environment and Resources Programme at Chatham House. Oli has been working at the nexus of security, natural resources and climate change for the past 18 years, with particular interests in peacebuilding, conflict mediation, natural resource management, environmental politics and trade policy. Between 2014 and 2018 he was based in Kenya where he coordinated the UN Environment Programme (UNEP)’s work to minimize the risks and impacts of disasters, industrial accidents and armed conflicts. Between 2010 and 2012 Oli managed a UNEP programme in Sierra Leone, and before that he was a senior researcher and programme manager with the International Institute for Sustainable Development. Oli has degrees in anthropology and history from the University of Glasgow, a master’s in international studies from the University of Otago in New Zealand, and a master’s in environmental science from the School of African and Oriental Studies, London.
Taylor Dimsdale is the director of E3G’s Risk and Resilience Programme. He works with governments, public institutions and the private sector to ensure their decision-making is informed by a better understanding of climate risk. Taylor’s areas of expertise include risk assessment and management, the geopolitics of decarbonization, and the implications of climate change for national and international security. He also has experience in sustainable finance and energy policy. Before joining E3G, Taylor worked as a consultant for a boutique green financial services firm where he focused on environmental markets and analysed renewable energy and energy efficiency policies. Taylor has also worked for the American Institutes for Research, a non-profit behavioural and social sciences research organization in Washington, DC. Taylor received his MPA in public and economic policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and holds dual bachelor’s degrees in psychology and English from Syracuse University.
