Biography

The Rt Hon the Baroness May of Maidenhead served as the United Kingdom’s second female prime minister (2016–19) and as the longest-serving Conservative home secretary in over a century (2010–16).

Baroness May’s time in office coincided with a period of profound political and global change. She has extensive experience in defence, security, and international affairs, having led complex Brexit negotiations, worked closely with the first Trump administration, and managed a broad range of high-profile domestic and international security challenges. 

Through these roles, she has gained rare insight into the demands of leadership at the highest level, the intricacies of global diplomacy, and the evolving nature of democracy in a rapidly shifting world. She now shares this expertise as a senior fellow at Yale University.
