Biography

Carolyn Deere Birkbeck is senior researcher at the Graduate Institute’s Global Governance Centre in Geneva. She is also director of the Forum on Trade, Environmental Sustainability and the SDGs (TESS), based at the Geneva Trade Platform. She is a senior research associate in the Global Economic Governance Programme at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.  

She was previously assistant director of the global inclusion theme at the Rockefeller Foundation in New York. Dr. Deere Birkbeck is the founder and board chair of Global Policy Reporting, which hosts, Health Policy Watch, providing professional independent reporting on global health policymaking. 


She holds an MA (Economics, Energy and Environment) from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a DPhil in International Relations from University College, Oxford.
