Christophe Bellmann

Biography

Christophe Bellmann has been working for the last 25 years on trade policy and sustainable development in the context of multilateral and regional negotiations.

He is currently a senior policy advisor with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), and a visiting fellow at the Institute of International Trade (IIT), University of Adelaide, Australia. He is also a member of the Academic Advisory Council of the Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (TRAPCA), Arusha, Tanzania.  


Since 2014, he has served as adviser to the group of least developed countries (LDCs) and that of the ACP countries (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific) in WTO negotiations, in areas such as agriculture trade and food security, fisheries subsidies, industrial goods or trade and environment.

He has also contributed in different capacities to the work of international organizations including the WTO, UNCTAD, ECLAC or the OECD. Prior to that he worked at the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD), an independent think tank, based in Geneva, Switzerland as head of programmes and Senior Resident Research Associate.  

He holds a master’s degree in international relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (HEID) in Geneva.
