Biography
Emadeddin Badi is a political analyst and adviser specialising in geopolitics, conflict and illicit economies, energy politics and political risk across North Africa and the Sahel.
His work examines armed groups, foreign intervention, migration, organised crime, sanctions, security governance and cross-border conflict systems. He has particular expertise on Libya, Sudan and Chad, including links between state institutions, armed networks, natural-resource politics and external actors.
Emad is co-founder of Informmi, a political risk consultancy. He has served as Military Adviser to the Independent UN Fact-Finding Mission on Libya and has worked with the United Nations Department for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, DCAF, the United States Institute of Peace and the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime.
He regularly engages with government, corporate and research audiences, and delivers a North Africa course for US diplomats at the State Department’s National Foreign Affairs Training Center. He is fluent in Arabic, English and French.
