Biography
Iain Drayton is head of Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking business in Asia Ex-Japan. He has been based in Hong Kong since 2010, and prior to that was in Tokyo from 1998-2010. He joined Goldman Sachs in 2006 in Tokyo. He started his career with SBC Warburg in 1995 in London.
Iain has been a longstanding supporter of the University of Cambridge. He sits on the board of trustees at the Cambridge Trust, a charity established with the sole purpose of providing support to students to enable them to benefit from the educational and research opportunities offered at Cambridge; and he co-founded the ‘Get in Cambridge’ campaign which supports the university’s efforts to reach student applications from underrepresented minority groups and now offers a number of bursaries to eligible students.
Iain serves on the board of the China Development Foundation, a non-profit focused on reducing the opportunity gap between rural and urban schools in China. He is also a co-founder of RIAC (Responsible Influence in Arts and Culture), a UK based initiative geared towards creating next generation board membership in the arts.
Iain earned a diploma in Mandarin and Economics from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing in 1991 and an MA in Japanese Studies from Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge, in 1995, where he graduated with First Class Honours with Distinction.
