Professor Jamie Gaskarth

Biography

Jamie Gaskarth is Professor of Foreign Policy and International Relations at The Open University. He is author/editor of six books and numerous articles on British foreign policy, intelligence, rising powers and international society. 

He has provided extensive advice and consulted with various government departments over two decades, including being appointed to the Academic Consultative Panel for the 2015 NSS/SDSR and serving on the Red Team for the Defence Command Paper 2023. 


Professor Gaskarth has occupied academic leadership roles on the ISA’s Governing Council, as Convenor of the English School (2018-20), and as Convenor of the BISA British Foreign Policy Working Group (2008-2014). He is currently Associate Commissioning Editor of International Affairs and working on a research project on strategic defence reviews and national strategy with Dr Maeve Ryan and Dr William Reynolds (KCL).
