Biography
Sir John Jenkins is a former British diplomat. After completing undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Cambridge University, he joined the FCO in 1980, serving in the UAE, Malaysia and Kuwait and as head of mission in Burma, Jerusalem, Syria, Iraq, Libya and Saudi Arabia and as director for the Middle East and North Africa.
Between 2015 and 2018 he was the Bahrain-based director (Middle East) for IISS and a Senior Fellow at Yale University’s Jackson Institute. Since 2019 he has been a senior fellow at Policy Exchange and a Consultant at Cambridge University’s Centre for Geopolitics.
