Panel

In conversation with HE Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Finance for Türkiye

How does Türkiye navigate global economic (dis)order?

Event date and time: 16 January 2025 — 18:00 TO 19:00 GMT

Event location: Hybrid — Chatham House and Online

The world is increasingly fragmented and fractured. Looming on the horizons are trade and tariff wars. This economic picture is further compounded by the growing geopolitical risks and tensions, and great power rivalry.

Despite these trends, Türkiye’s economic outlook was on a positive track in 2024, while the global one remained more uncertain. Against this background, HE Minister Şimşek will share his perspective and projections on the state of Turkish and global economy for the year ahead.

The event is being held together with Chatham House’s The Turkey Initiative.
