From chips to China-US tensions: How Taiwan and Europe can work together to manage shared challenges

In spite of the unofficial nature of its ties with European countries, Taiwan is becoming an increasingly important investment and trade partner with the region. This trend was accentuated by the $11bn chip plant led by TSMC now under construction in Dresden, Germany. Other high-tech investments in Italy, France, Germany and elsewhere flesh out a developing high-tech Taiwanese supply chain in the region. Political linkages between Taiwan and Europe are also deepening.

But how can Europe and Taiwan best engage with one another while resisting pressure from Beijing? Our expert panel explores what these partners can learn from each other to navigate shared challenges amid escalating China–US competition.
