Event date and time: 25 October 2023 — 17:00 TO 18:00 BST

Event location: Hybrid — Chatham House and Online

Event recording

— Panellists discuss US power at Chatham House.

During the 1990s and early 2000s, the United States’ global dominance was unquestionable.

Now domestic dysfunction and failed US interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan appear to many to have compromised US global dominance. Some claim that the unipolar moment has come to an end and that the world is now multipolar.

The panel discuss:

  • How strong is the case that we are living in a multipolar world system and why does it matter?

  • Is American power capable of balancing Russia and China?
