Online

The ongoing war in Gaza continues to affect the Middle East with significant implications for its security and stability, as well as domestic dynamics within regional states. Jordan has been one of the countries most influenced by the continuing conflict and regional tensions. The Kingdom and the Palestinians are intimately linked historically, culturally, and politically, and every event in Palestine – good and bad – reverberates throughout Jordan.

Amman’s relations with Israel have also been under enormous strain as a result of the war with Jordan’s King and senior government officials strongly condemning Israel for its actions in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. At the same time, the country has become an arena for regional tensions between Israel and its allies, and armed groups from the ‘axis of resistance’, which most recently resulted in the deaths of US army personnel on Jordanian soil.

In this webinar, a panel of experts will examine how the war in Gaza is affecting Jordan and will focus on:

  • Short and long-term domestic consequences.
  • Security ramifications of the Gaza war and its regional spillover.
  • Implications for the future of Israel–Jordan relations.
  • Jordan’s diplomatic role in the region.
