With the launch of the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) in 2021, the US and EU are seeking to coordinate approaches to key issues at the intersection of economics, trade, and competitiveness. While it provides a forum to tackle bilateral issues, the Council is also an important mechanism for transatlantic cooperation on global issues – including shared concerns regarding non-market economy policies and practices, as well as the future of tech governance and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

This event will tackle the following questions:

  • Where does the work of the 10 TTC working groups and the separate Joint Technology Competition Policy Dialogue currently stand?
  • What set of concrete deliverables for the TTC are the US and EU focusing on in the short term and long term?
  • How does the TTC differ from past efforts to advance US-EU cooperation on trade?
  • How does the work of the TTC feed into other governance structures focused on trade and tech issues and wider collaboration with like-minded partners?
