Reception

Global Governance and Security Centre launch

Join us for a drinks reception to mark the launch of Chatham House’s new Global Governance and Security Centre.

Event date and time: 9 September 2025 — 17:00 TO 19:00 BST

Event location: In person — Chatham House

As global power shifts, the norms and rules of the post-1945 order are being increasingly challenged. In a fracturing world order, how can global governance and security adapt?

Bringing together Chatham House’s expertise on international security, law, digital societies and global health crises, this new centre will focus on practical ways to reform global governance and amplify the voices of smaller and aspiring middle powers who have previously not shaped global decision-making, particularly those in the Global South. It will explore which elements of the old order can be retained or restored and where new rules can be written.

This celebratory reception offers the chance to hear more about the centre’s vision, meet the researchers who will deliver papers, recommendations and expert insight, and connect with others shaping the debate on the future of the global order. Remarks from Bronwen Maddox, Director and Chief Executive, and Dr Samir Puri, Research Director, Global Governance and Security Centre, and special guest Martin Griffiths, former United Nations Under-Secretary-General, will outline the ambitions and objectives of the new centre and the importance of such expertise in turbulent geopolitical times.

Held in either our Henry Price or Neil Malcom rooms, they are primarily member only events, but occasionally they are balloted with places available to those who register their interest.
