Israel at Sixty: Young Country, Same Old Conflict

Independence Day in Israel follows the much more sombre Day of Remembrance for fallen soldiers who have paid the ultimate price in serving the Jewish state. This May will be no different. Israelis will be on the streets for the customary parties, spectacular fireworks and bonfires along the Mediterranean coast in celebration of the sixtieth anniversary. A good time to reflect and contemplate the directions the state might want to take in years to come.
