This is the last issue of The World Today that Alan Philps will produce as editor. Alan took over as editor in 2011 with the objective of relaunching the magazine and transforming its purpose and appeal. He has succeeded on all fronts.
Alan introduced new features, including interviews with key policymakers and influencers, such as Juan Manuel Santos and Sir David Attenborough, and tackled a creative range of topics from 3D printing, to who owns London’s skyline, to the legacy of the Great War.
In addition, the magazine has, crucially, become a champion of new voices and, despite a tough media environment, subscriptions are on the rise and the magazine has developed new relationships with schools and colleges.
