
About the author
Philip Hanson is an associate fellow of the Russia and Eurasia Programme at Chatham House. He is professor emeritus of the Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies (CREES) – formerly the Centre for Russian and East European Studies – at the University of Birmingham, and was the centre’s director from 2001 to 2002.
His work has focused chiefly on the Soviet and Russian economies; and he is interested in comparative economic systems and economics of transition.
