Dr Carmen Geha

Biography
Dr Carmen Geha is a scholar-activist and an expert on the politics of inclusion and exclusion in the Middle East and North Africa region. Her research is at the nexus of academia and practice, with a focus on women’s political and economic participation, refugee education and protection, civil society and protest movements.
She is co-founder and managing director of Soltara Consulting, a Barcelona-based platform for experts on strategy, leadership, and applied research for inclusive policies. She is also an associated faculty at the Barcelona Institute for International Affairs teaching on gender and globalization.
Prior to these current roles, she was a Maria Zambrano fellow at Pompeu University and an associate professor at the American University of Beirut. Dr Geha is the author of Civil Society and Political Reform in Lebanon and Libya (Routledge, 2016).
She has advised and consulted international organizations, private businesses and UN agencies on topics within her expertise with a specialization in good governance, inclusive policies, constitutional and electoral reform, and education strategies in conflict and crisis.
She holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of St. Andrews.
