Dr Elena Lazarou

Dr Elena Lazarou is an associate fellow in the US and the Americas programme, providing insights on themes related to Brazilian politics and foreign policy, as well as EU relations with the US and the Americas. Her interests include foreign policy analysis, geopolitics and the study of peace and security.

Dr Lazarou is currently the acting head of external policies at the European Parliament’s Research Service, the European Parliament’s in-house think tank. She is also an associate professor of the EU-South America School of Global Governance based at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) in Brazil and a member of the EUinLAC consortium.

Between 2010-2015 she was assistant professor of international relations and head of FGV’s Centre of International Relations (as of 2012). She has held postdoctoral posts at the London School of Economics and Political Science and at the University of Cambridge.
