Biography

Fergus Kell is a projects coordinator and research analyst with the Africa Programme at Chatham House. His research is focused on the political economy of Kenya and Tanzania, on which his commentary has appeared in media outlets including Reuters, AFP, RFI, Al Jazeera and Voice of America.

He provides coordination support to the programme’s project-based activities, including for its major project on Social Norms and Accountable Governance (SNAG) in Nigeria.


He has co-authored three book chapters: on Africa-EU relations in the The Routledge Handbook of EU-Africa Relations and two chapters on geopolitics and African maritime security for the European Institute of Security Studies. He holds an MPhil in International Relations and Politics from the University of Cambridge.
