Biography

Fergus Kell is a research fellow with the Africa Programme at Chatham House. His research covers the political economy and foreign relations of East Africa, with a focus on Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, in addition to wider macroeconomic trends.

He regularly provides commentary for international media, including the BBC, Al Jazeera, the Guardian, Bloomberg, the Financial Times and Reuters.

Fergus has published several book chapters, reports and case studies on African foreign policy, security and sovereign debt issues. He previously managed a range of Africa Programme research projects, working closely with partners across the continent.

He holds an MPhil in International Relations and Politics from the University of Cambridge.
